I was invited to the guys at St George Open Air Cinema to go and experience the open air cinema at Miss Macquarie Chair. Having been in Australia for over three years, I’ve always wanted to go to this, but always forget and then remembered after they’d all sold out, in lightening speed I might add!
It was a great experience, to watch a movie with the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the backdrop, you can’t really complain. It’s an unparalleled view in my opinion it is also an experience that you should definitely take part in, should you plan to travel/ be in Sydney during the months of January and February!
My partner and I took our seats and waited for the sun to set and the movie to start. Now I’m not your usual chick-flick fan, I didn’t cry at the Note Book and have no desire to see Dear John (Did I head snooze fest?!) However there is something magical about Rachel McAdams that makes me want to watch a move that she features in.
The film The Vow follows the story of a young couple that fall madly in love, only for them to be involved in a serious car accident where Paige (McAdams) loses all memory of her husband and can only remember the period up to where she was studying law at university and engaged to another man.
Leo, portrayed by the delicious Channing Tatum, struggles to bring the memory of him back to the wife that he loves dearly, but who has no idea who he is.
What follows is a true love story of letting the one you love free, if they’re meant to be they’ll come back. The movie documents the faith that Leo has in the love that he and his wife share. Yes it is soppy, yes it is a chick flick but you know what, this one I could stand and would watch again.
Here’s the trailer for you so you can get a feel!
Thanks to St George Open Air Cinema for the opportunity.
