Wrap up of day 4!
Another bright blue sky for day 4 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia! Bright nails, chunky necklaces and vampy lips greeted me as I entered the venue this morning.
This is where we can taste the end of the week and everyone is just enjoying themselves!
First up this morning was the first of the New Generation shows at The Tent showing designs by Kahlo, Tovah, Kristi Rose, Collecting Pretty Boys and Elliatt. Designers that have never showed before at fashion week are able to submit their lines and share the limelight. This is the perfect way to get ahead in Sydney fashion. These 5 put together a show that was modern, edgy with a bit of sin that left us wanting more!! Each designer was more different then the next. Tovah’s bright fresh summery look makes me want to dive right into summer!
Jenny Kee took the box by storm this morning it has been 21 years since her last solo showing she is back and brighter than ever! The packed show had 10 looks that transformed The Box into her vision of Western Australia! Silk scarves hung on eucalyptus branches as the sounds of birds twittering filled the space.
Jenny might have been the highlight of this year’s fashion week with sticking with what she believes in the most colour and print. I know I would love to rock one of those silk scarves on any given day!
We Are Handsome were up next at The Theatre taking swimwear to a wild level. (Which we love and so does Rhianna!) Giving us a ready to wear swimsuit line with a suit for every woman. Whether you are feeling adventurous or want to keep it classic these suits are tress chic!!
Lisa (SS101 Creator) is a HUGE fan of the collection, here are her top picks:
Known for their cutting edge and luxurious creations Aje took on the start of the afternoon at Paspaley’s flagship in Sydney’s CBD!
Trending heavy sequined, asymmetrical hemlines, biker boots and pearls. Key colors- cream, black, gold and emerald set the tone for this glamorous event. Sexy, cool and modern is the best way describe it!
Australia’s most talented and up-and-coming designers showcased their collections at The Tent this afternoon for TAFE’S The Innovators runway show. With all the incredible talent of their most recent grads a lucky 6 showed Sydney what they got! The young designers included Charlie Waterman, Christopher Baldwin, Cynthia Thai, Stephanie Goerlach, Yuliy Gershinshky and Kaylene Milner. The show was sleek, exotic, bright, and fresh! Setting new trend and taking old trends to new heights!
Roopa Pemmaraju was up next at The Theatre! She was joined by Sudhir Swain director for the label based in Bangalore. Their unique designs showcase the exquisite fabrics of India through soft cotton, textured crepe, organic eco fabric and luxuriant silk. Today they showed us an effortless on the go ready to wear collection for spring summer.
Sydney Social 101 had the chance to head up to the Shangri-La Hotel and take a sneak peak at Sidney Sladen’s new collection The Garden Rogue! Such fresh elegant girly pieces made for the perfect night out in Sydney. Each dress makes you want to fall in love and run away to Paris!
Sidney Sladen is practically a Chennai landmark. He is one of the few Chennai designers who have given a global and dramatic twist to fashion and he is a brand whose collections are what people from across the region look forward to every year. Sidney’s name reaches to bollywood, Hollywood and across India. He is constantly evolving and envisioning! This young designer is here to stay.
I cant wait to see what day 5 brings! It’s the final day so I am sure it will be filled with show stoppers to cap off this glorious week!
Day Four was covered by Sydney Social 101 contributor Heather Dethmers.
