Hot trends for SS 2012 – 1013

Just recently I had the amazing honour of securing my permanent residency of this stunning country; Australia. As a recently approved ‘ Aussie’ I now feel I can truly establish myself as a legitimate Sydneysider whocan talk to the renowned style from down under – With a bit of a ‘Pomme’ edge.

As a lover of popular culture, which my blog is testament to, fashion is absolutely one of my passions! I love to follow recent trends whilst making them accessible to you, by providing comparisons to true affordable Aussie and internationally accessible brands – I feel it’s no good lusting after the latest designer look if it’s going to break the bank!

Here’s my key insights from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012/ 2013, which I had the amazing privilege of attending as a domestic delegate.

We all know that Sydney is renowned for its laid back take on bang on-trend fashion looks. Here’s my top takeouts on the trends from the catwalk.

Key Look #1

Metallic

The metallic trend is going to be setting the fashion scene alight this Spring and Summer, a key look that transcends well from catwalk to high street, if you want to know any trend for SS 2012/13, I assure you that Metallic needs to be on your fashion radar!

Whether you choose to go for a top to toe structured look or focus on metallic accessorising to bring the look from day to night – your capsule wardrobe will be calling for key metallic items to keep you in line.

Key Look #2

Print

Print is a trend that I have started to like, reluctantly I might add! I LOVE the juxtaposition of a bold print dress with a bold crop jacket – ‘sexy cool’ is a look that will never steer you wrong!

We’ve gone from glitzy metallics to perfect prints, which is a trend that I feel brings out the ‘girl’ in me – not one to shy away from my love of tailored, structured looks, a print blazer on a black silhouette with a clean  crisp white vest – you simply can’t fail!

Here’s my favourite cover so far of 2012, Australia’s Harper’s Bazaar Collections, Spring/ Summer 2012 collections – It encapsulates both trends, metallic and print just perfectly with this stunning Prada design, I’m in love!

What is most important, is that you wear the style that suits you, whether it’s on-trend or vintage cool, as long as you’re happy with your style that’s all that matters!
