Balmain has a new haunt and you know what, it is pretty freaking awesome! Sydney Social 101 was invited to attend the launch along-side Bob Hawke (Ex-Prime Minister), Tim Freedman (The Whitlams), Sally Singleton (singer), Michela Noonan (actress – All Saints), Roy Billing (actor – Underbelly), Angus McLaren (actor – Packed to the Rafters) and Courtney Roulston (Masterchef). Not too shabby!
The Riversdale Group hosted the event to launch The Workers last Wednesday, 26th September via a smashing opening party.
The Workers was officially opened by ex-PrimeMinister Bob Hawke, as he shared the stage with good friend John Singleton, and Paddy Coughlan, both co-owners of the new bar.
Mr Hawke told the partying crowd that it was a “genuine pleasure” to help out mate Singleton to launch the venue that also has such a rich labour history.
Guests were treated with a live performance from Tim Freedman of the Whitlams.
All guests enjoyed samples from the yummy menu including:
- “Shrimp” Tacos – grilled marinated prawn, slaw, mojo verde and scallion
- “Blue eye” beer battered Sliders with lettuce, preserved lemon and caper mayo
- “Quesadillas de espinica” grilled ricotta and spinach flour tortillas, salsa fresca
- “Crab cakes” alaskan crab and yellow pepper with preserved lemon & caper mayo
There is also an AMAZING roof top terrace to rival Melbourne’s greatest:
So if you’re in the area and you fancy checking out the new digs, Sydney Social 101 would suggest that you partake immediately if not sooner!
