The master glassman is coming to our shores to host two glass tastings in both Sydney and Melbourne. Georg Riedel is the 10th generation glassmaker from Austria and owner of Riedel, maker of premium wine glasses. The first to truly understand how the shape of a glass dramatically affects a wine’s bouquet and flavor, Riedel has transformed the way wine drinkers view their glassware. Georg will be bringing his unique tastings to Australia, with a few new elements to highlight the importance of varietal specific glassware.
The tastings will feature glasses from the Vinum XL series (Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon), with matching premium Australian wines. This series is perfect suited for rich Australian wines known as “New World“ wines.
In addition to the normal tasting, Georg will also host a water tasting. This fascinating element allows you to clearly feel how the liquid hits your palate ‐ whether it is directed to the tip of your tongue, hits the middle, or fans out from one side to the other ‐ without being interrupted by your other senses taste and smell. For the final part of the tasting, George will use three dark chocolates from Lindt to showcase how food, wine and glass matching plays a hugely important role on your enjoyment.
The ticket price includes this beautiful set of three Red Wine glasses, valued at $210.00, and an opportunity to learn with Georg, who will demostrate that glass shape really does matter.
