Aquabumps Gallery on Wednesday 26thof February.

Rekorderlig Cider helped us celebrate summer (despite the rain) last night at the iconic Aquabumps Gallery in Bondi. The event was an exclusive party thrown for the winners of Rekorderlig’s #Celebratethesummer January competition to launch the Beautifully Swedish Cider’s Instagram page. The winning images from the instagram competition were displayed throughout the gallery.
Rekorderlig bringing us summer in a bottle
Rekorderlig did a fine job of distracting us all from the not so summery weather outside by serving up a super selection of ciders from Passionfruit to Apple and Guava. Served up with either lime or mint, they offered a welcome and surprising change from the 2 litre bottles of Frosty Jacks of my youth. The other guests seemed to agree as everyone seemed genuinely surprised at how delicious and refreshing the cider cocktails were as they slurped them down – definitely a new and more upmarket way to enjoy cider. Of course, I took full advantage and took it upon myself to sample as many different flavours as possible, all in the name research obviously. (I recommend the Passionfruit with a wedge of lime FYI).
Even more impressive than the cider however, were the instagrams photos decorating the walls. Fitting in perfectly with the Aquabumps iconic vibe- (for those of you not familiar with Aquabumps photography it’s a must see by the way) the photos on display were the perfect backdrop to the event perfectly capturing the summer vibe and many paying tribute to the iconic beach culture of Bondi. It was a great and original way to showcase emerging Aussie talent. Next in line was the food, always my favourite part of the evening, and Rekorderlig did not disappoint, serving up some delicious canapés including some superb Swedish meatballs and Rekorderlig Pear cider sliders. After (mauling) two sliders, (ok perhaps I still have a low tolerance for cider), I had a chat with the winner of the competition Christian Anstey – @C_Anstey for anyone who wishes to follow this up and coming young photographer on instagram. Excited and perhaps a little surprised, Christian bagged himself a case of Rekorderlig, a framed photo of his choice from the Aquabumps gallery and of course an amazing opportunity to have his photography recognised.
Swedish meatballs and Rekorderlig Pear cider sliders. Mmmm.
One of the best parts of the exhibition was that Rekorderlig managed to keep it low key, arty decorations made from empty bottles and some subtle lighting features paid homage to the brand but the spotlight was definitely on the photography. The whole event was fresh and new, with nice little touches everywhere. One of the favourites with the crowd was a little post box set-up in the gallery where guests could choose their favourite instagram photo (all made into postcards) and send a postcard to their friends or family. Another great way to celebrate the winners’ photos and share the love.

All in all, a great night by Rekorderlig who managed to make me feel all summery and beachy even in the pouring rain (maybe even a little tipsy too but that’s a different story!) Aquabumps provided the perfect intimate location to showcase the winners’ work and is definitely a must see for art fanatics and surfers alike. Finally, a massive congratulations to all the winners who had their photos displayed last night: it’s an exciting time for you all. I love a free drink and burger as much as the next gal, but that exhibition of photos was definitely worth paying to see.
