This week was witness to the start of summer as David Jones sizzled as it unveiled its new season of fashion from Australia’s leading designers. From the Tropics to the French Riviera, more than 140 outfit changes were managed seamlessly (pardon the pun) and intricately styled using bold, statement accessories.
On Tuesday night David Jones was transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour. A raised Perspex runway took centre stage with models parading the very best looks in what was an energetic show amidst a packed audience of Australia’s fashion elite including designers, media and celeb-types!
Guests included David Jones’s Ambassadors Megan Gale, Gail Waterhouse and Emma Freedman, along with Sarah Murdoch, Sarah De Bono and Kelly Rowland.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you’ll have also noticed that a certain world-class super model type jetted in to open the show, you might have heard of her… Miranda Kerr?!
Kerr of course didn’t disappoint as she lead the pack in a supercharged runway brimming with a plethora of some of the world’s most sought-after models: David Jones Ambassador Samantha Harris, exclusive talent Montana Cox, Jessica Gomes, Alexandra Agoston, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Julia Nobis, Louise Van Der Vorst, Rose Smith, Rachael Rutt and Nicole Pollard, all fresh from international runways.
David Jones Menswear Ambassador, Jason Dundas also took to the catwalk for the very first time alongside high calibre male talent including Zac and Jordan Stenmark and Jack Vanderhart.
The inspired collections included Alannah Hill, Bianca Spencer, Xalibre, Carla Zampatti, Collette Dinnigan, Dion Lee, Easton Pearson, Lisa Ho, Lover, Josh Goot, Kittily Johnston, Ksubi, Scanlan & Theodore, Thurley, Trelise Cooper, Willow and Zimmermann.
In addition to the spectacle of colour and renowned designers, Alex Perry and Ginger and Smart celebrated 20 and 10 years respectively – Well done! From the oldies to the newbies, Gary Bigei, Roopa and We Are Handsome debuted for the very first time as members of the David Jones family! – Congrats!
One of my ultimate all time faces closed the show, Romance was Born in dramatic fashion! They never disappoint!
Guests were served the order of the day – Fresh and Fabulous! Fresh yellow fin tuna sashimi, poached lobster tail and Sydney rock Oysters. Cocktails added a bit of fizz to the evenings proceedings (not that it needed any!) with Belvedere Yuzu Nara along with Veuve Clicqot champagne – Just lovely!
